STORM 55
The STORM 55, a highly distinctive yacht designed to sail on both coastal and inland waters. The draft and beam were chosen in such a way that the yacht can sail downstream the European rivers in comfort. The yacht is built from aluminium at Workumer Jachthaven, and Van Oossanen Naval Architects are the naval architects of this project. The hull is Van Oossanen’s patented Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF), and it's shape guarantees a first-class sailing performance that few, if any yacht, can offer in this size.
She is equipped with conventional shaft lines and two Perkins engines, which allows the yacht to sail fuel efficient and comfortable at a speed of 16 knots, the semi-displacement regime. Capable to make a speed of 22-knots with the more powerful engine package.
In order to increase the comfort on board a Seakeeper gyro is installed to limit the heeling angles. The hull lines and appendages are aligned using the Van Oossanen Computational Fluid Dynamics code.
Designed to be easily recognized, the elegant and stylish long prow give the 55 a dynamic appearance wherever she is berthed. The 16,5-meter motor yacht weighs in at around 30,5-tonnes at full capacity.
With her fine maneuverability and a low clearance, the 55 will ensure that nothing stands in your way to reach your destination in complete freedom.
Interior
The owner's state focuses on maximum utilization of space with minimal clutter. The emphasis is on the maximum relaxation with a quiet surrounding. The light oak flooring combined with birch veneer and warm natural simple color palette accentuated with one or two bright choices gives a nice contrast and lively feeling within the stateroom. The soft padded back of bed creates a cocoon like feeling as it wraps around the bed, creating a comfortable setup. The polished stainless-steel trims and the custom push lock design enriches the warm, simple interiors. The owner's bathroom is finished in a clean contemporary style as well, with the use of polished stainless steel, glass and high gloss birch veneer that ties the space to the rest of the yacht's interior.
The main saloon consists of a fully equipped galley and the back to back setup of the lounge seating with the dinette allowing the guests to enjoy the outdoor views at any given scenario without compromising comfort. The saloon states the firm idea of the owner's tastes, and delivers a warm contemporary, luxurious but practical style using birch and American Walnut as a feature wood, and a combination of satin and high gloss finishes to create subtle variations and textures. Among the signature design elements is the use of wooden ceiling panels with lacquered trims, implemented as a modern adaptation of Japanese/tatami inspired surface treatment.
